Abstract

Purpose : The purpose of the study is to examine the relationship among cadets` life adjustment, stress, self-esteem, and ego-resilience in the Armed Forces Nursing Academy.

Methods : The study is a cross sectional research on 300 female nursing cadets. The instruments were revised Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire, Stress, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, and revised ego-resilience scale. Data was analyzed using frequency analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis.

Results : The results revealed that the cadet`s life adjustment, stress, self-esteem, and ego-resilience were 4.2/7, 2.0/4, 3.1/4, and 2.80/4, respectively. There were significant positive correlation among cadets` life adjustment, self-esteem, and ego-resilience, and they explained 41.2% of the cadets` life adjustment based on multiple regression analysis. On the other hand, there was a significant negative correlation between cadets` life adjustment and stress.
Conclusion : These findings indicate that it is necessary to increase self-esteem and ego-resilience and decrease stress for improving cadets` life adjustment. It is important to develop a more effective discipline program based on the results of this study.
